One Month In
A month ago, I got the keys to a little studio in New York and honestly had no idea what I was doing.
I knew I wanted a place to make things. I knew I missed being creative. And I knew that somewhere along the way, I had stopped making art simply because I wanted to.
So I gave myself a room.
The first few weeks were mostly about making the space feel like mine. I moved furniture around approximately a thousand times. I thrifted things, wrapped a dresser, made little objects out of clay, hung up my guitar, chased the afternoon light around the room and slowly watched this empty box turn into Studio Sar.

And then something happened that I wasn't really expecting.
I started making art again.
Not because I needed to post something. Not because it needed to be good. Not because I had some grand plan for what kind of artist I wanted to be.
I just started.

And somewhere in all of that experimenting, I found an idea for a series of paintings that I genuinely cannot stop thinking about. That might be the biggest surprise of this first month. I thought it would take me forever to figure out what I wanted to paint—or what my work was even supposed to look like.
Instead, I'm already starting to see little pieces of a visual language that feels like mine.

It's still early. I'm still learning. There are paintings I haven't finished, techniques I don't understand yet, and approximately one million things I want to try.
But that's kind of the point.
Studio Sar was never supposed to be about suddenly becoming an artist overnight. It's about giving myself the space to be curious again and seeing what happens when I actually follow it.
One month in, I don't know exactly where this is going.
But for the first time in a long time, I'm really excited to find out.
See you in month two. ✨
